SunSmart at work
The Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 requires employers to identify and control the risks from UVR faced by workers required to work outside. However, awareness among some employers about their obligations under the Act appears to be low.
The Cancer Society Auckland has developed a presentation, posters, information cards and a policy document to assist occupational health and safety practitioners to implement SunSmart practices in the workplace. The presentation outlines employer and employee responsibilities, how to develop a SunSmart policy and how individuals can protect themselves in the workplace.
